PRODUCT INFORMATION

The FR Glove is a high dexterity combat glove, designed as a best-of-all-worlds alternative to legacy products. ECC’s V1.0 release was developed and tested over 5 years and 7 iterations.

Careful material selection and construction allows ECC to match the comfort and tactility of synthetic ‘mechanic’ gloves, while offering a level of durability and protection that exceeds heavier goatskin products.

As required by a modern combat glove, inherently fire retardant Kevlar™ and kangaroo help prevent burns from flash fires, open flames, and dangerously hot surfaces – even after extensive use and wear. Unlike legacy products, the FR Glove is also water tolerant and naturally resists cracking and hardening.

⚠ Warning: Fully read the following instructions before using, modifying, conditioning, or breaking-in your FR Gloves — Delivery Leaflet V1.0.pdf

CARE

The ECC Gloves are not Machine washable. Surface clean only with a washcloth and warm water, line-dry in the shade. Avoid using soap as it can dry out & damage the leather. Never use bleach.

For conditioning the leather, we recommend Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP or a similar high-quality beeswax leather balm. Read the manufacturer's directions and take care not to over-apply these products. Leather conditioner will naturally darken the color of the gloves. Exposure to soaps, solvents, or fuels should be counteracted by re-applying leather balm. We also recommend regularly applying leather balm if your gloves are frequently saturated with water.

To prolong the life of the gloves, always line dry your gloves, store in shade at 60-80 degrees Fahrenheit at 50-70% humidity and do not use air-tight storage.

BREAK-IN PROCEDURE

Use the following procedure to form the ECC FR Gloves to your hands.

1. Prepare a cold water bath to shrink the gloves, or warm water to stretch them out.

2. Soak the gloves in the bath for 5-10 minutes, agitating the water to remove any remaining dyes and tanning byproducts from the gloves.

3. Replace the water bath with fresh water.

4. Don the gloves and insert your hands into the newly prepared bath. Soak for an additional 5-10 minutes. While soaking make fists and other hand movements — This will impart a natural curve that matches your hand shape.

5. Remove hands from the bath, and allow gloves to air-dry on their own. (Optional: continue wearing the gloves and allow body heat to dry.)

6. Once dry, apply a suitable leather conditioner per the care instructions above.

The FR Gloves will continue to break in and form to the shape of your hands over time, but repeating the above procedure can help alleviate problematic 'hot spots'.

V1.0: Q3 2024

The first public release of the ECC glove features design improvements to the palm and thumb to increase durability. Based on user feedback, V1.0 features new large-hand sizes to accommodate broad palms.

Although not officially supported in this release, some beta testers report touchscreen compatibility with the V1.0 FR glove and their devices.

The utility loop on the V1.0 FR Glove is not load bearing, and can pull away if subjected to excessive force. This failure mode does not compromise the glove’s protective qualities. The form and function of the V1.0 utility loop is under review, and we are accepting feedback for future releases.

KANGAROO LEATHER

Natural Australian kangaroo leather
Standard commercial goatskin leather

ECC believes kangaroo leather is a superior choice when compared to traditional goatskin and lambskin leather products.

[Click the tabs to learn more]

MATERIAL STRENGTH

Kangaroo hide has fine pores and uniquely uniform collagen fibers. This structure significantly increases abrasion resistance and tensile strength versus other animal skins. As a result, kangaroo leather is 10x stronger than cowhide and 1.5x stronger than goatskin. In practice kangaroo products are longer lasting and can be made thinner and lighter without compromise.

WATER EXPOSURE

Unlike goat and cow leathers, kangaroo tolerates water exposure and is not susceptible to hardening or cracking. To approximate this performance, goat and cow leathers are often coated or impregnated with plastics, harming their breathability and comfort.

INHERENT FLAME-RESISTANCE

Kangaroo leather is naturally fire retardant, requiring little to no chemical treatment. This inherent protection will last the entire lifetime of your ECC product.

THE PALM SYSTEM

Our Palm Adjusted Length Matrix (PALM) was developed to dramatically increase dexterity and comfort.
ECC accounts for variations in both finger length and palm circumference. The nine (9) PALM sizes fit up to 40% more American adult males than traditional sizing.

    Great gloves

Love the gloves, blew out one of the hooks that holds them almost immediately, really only use the gloves to drive my truck right now with it being winter where I'm at, so a little disappointing on that. Glove material is a soft leather and very thin so tactile touch is very good in them. They would be 5 star if the wrist hook didn't come undone maybe 3rd time wearing them. Fit and finish on the glove is great, hot water and working them breaks them in a bit more not that they need it at all, but rock climber hands really give you a meaty mit. No clue if the wrist loop is under warranty since they are pretty stringent on returns and such, looking through their info I don't think it is something I would bother with aside from something like this. No doubt these will be fine for working my firearms, I am able to get in and out of my pockets on Crye pants and the like no issues, able to open and close all zippers and Velcro pockets no problem. Tactile and reloading movement is good, feel is good through the leather. Def dig them.

We Apologize for the gloves failure and your thought that we are not extremely forgiving in the return process, The loops are designed for hanging to dry not for pulling, which can lead to quick failures in the loop. Please always attempt to reach out to our customer service so see our return policy and directions on use of the gloves.

Great gloves for the right use case

I finished the break in process recently and the gloves fit very well. When I measured my hands before I ordered them I was in between sizes I opted to go on the larger end. The break in process really helped to fill in the gap but they're still a little large which is fine. I think it boils down to your preference, when I order another pair in the future I will probably opt for the smaller size. I cant stress enough how important the break in is! Definitely buy the heavy duty LP it is worth it, just be very light with it. The color change from the LP is awesome it gives it a deeper brown look.

Ive used the gloves several times now at the range they feel like the very thin mechanix gloves but will last way longer due to the material. If your someone who prefers the feel of thinner gloves but are tired of having to buy new ones every few months these are a good option. They do hold up to some heat, the biggest benefit I noticed is when shooting ARs or AKs that have rails with no heat shield usually your hands are cooking after the first mag or two these will keep you comfortable. I dont recommend grabbing a hot suppressor with them. I think they could hold up but in my opinion just bring a suppressor cover or something specific for that instead of risking burning leather. I think the style of these, but I'm hoping more color options will be available in the future.

    Fantastic gloves

These were fantastic gloves with almost everything I came to look for. With almost all other major glove brands opting for darker coyote brown goatskin these ECC kangaroo was a refreshing touch, the leather was easy to break-in and was super tactile. No doubt with K leather's unique strength these are going to last me a good while. My only gripe with these glove would be the index finger, it's sewn different from the rest of the four fingers and sometimes the excess material creates poking hotspots in the fingertip, I do wish it was a more wrap around design like the other three fingers.

    They're pretty decent

I'll start by stating that for the size of the company and the quality they offer, these are priced fairly accurately. That being said, I'll go through the pros and cons:

    Pros:

    - Durability and construction: my job/normal every-day-living in the desert implies that I have to touch hot piping and abrasive materials. Granted I don't use these in place of proper safety gloves, I do have them on for just normal wear in case I have to handle something in a pinch. I haven't had them very long, but ive had them longer than the average lifespan of my regular 20 dollar mechanix gloves that I burn through pretty quickly. To be fair, I take care of these a lot better than the mechanix gloves, so that should be taken into consideration as well. Still impressive, not one stitch has come loose.

-Fits and feels like a driving glove: the break in procedure and overall materials make it feel great. They breathe well and they have decent dexterity. I'll likely get a new pair just for every day wear.

    -they look pretty neat.

    Cons:

    - The sizing is odd: I'll start by saying that I have weird shaped hands. I had to order their longest size (which was about 3 or 4 mm shorter than my actual hand measurement, but figured it should be within their stretch allowance). I got them and the overall length was actually perfect, but the fingers were a bit too short, by a bit over 5mm. I went through the break in soak procedure which corrected it for the most part, but there's still about 1mm or so space…

    Great field gloves as well.

I’m a full time agricultural researcher & part time RSO and these gloves have served me well both in the field and on the range. Perfect balance of protection and dexterity.
